Happy 1st Birthday to Henry!!

Ugly Christmas sweaters are by far the best apparel for any holiday get together.

Adam's sister Kim made Henry his Birthday cake. Isn't it awesome! She did such a great job on it.

He didn't know what to do with the cake when we first put in front of him. He was more excited about the tarp underneath him. He kept crawling around like a maniac.

Happy Birthday Henry!!!

We are having his 1st Birthday party tomorrow. We're having an ugly Christmas sweater party for him. Of course we'll post pictures of it.

I am in "strolling down memory lane" mode. I have kept a journal of my pregnancy with Henry and this past year of all the fun and new stuff Henry learned to do. I was reading in it last night before going to bed and it just made me think back on Henry and how much he's grown and changed. He was so tiny and now he's just huge! He's not a baby anymore, he's a little human boy that crawls and... eats stuff. He's turning into a little stinker though, he's into everything and anything. It's been amazing, I feel so proud when Henry learns something new. He can crawl up and down the stairs now, just barely learned how to go down a few days ago. I just watched him as he took his foot and lowered it onto the step below. I just wanted to cry for joy! We just love him so much and we feel sooooo blessed to be his parents.

Washington DC Rock n' Roll Marathon!!

I just signed up to run my first marathon! I was planning on running the Philadelphia Marathon this coming November, but I didn't sign up in time. I was really bumbed out about it too, I was training really hard for it and my mind set was already there. Now I have to go through it all over again and put my mind in the right gear. The marathon isn't till March, but I'm excited!

I convinced Adam to do the Warrior Dash with me- it's a obstacle course/mud run. 3.02 miles of running through mud and climbing through crazy mayhem. Sounds like a lot of fun huh!
I feel like a little kid again :) running around, up to no good.

We went for a drive to the Shenandoah Valley over the weekend. The leaves were bursting with color, but we missed the peak, if we had gone a week before we would have seen it in all it's glory. There was a snow storm that blew all the leaves off. We had lunch at a picnic table and let Henry loose in the leaves. He was so excited to have all the freedom of the outdoors at his fingertips. I love how curious he is and how excited he gets over things.

Henry can stand now! He pulls himself up to things and leans against them. He's not a little baby anymore! He's like this little human that crawls and chatters at us. Almost like a little puppy.

I had to get a picture of Henry's first fall time. I could never get a good picture of him looking at the camera, he was so excited about the leaves....and then some dogs that walked by.

We thought it would be a grand idea to make pizza one night for dinner. Our very first attempt ever to make pizza was a crying shame. It looked awful, but it tasted okay.

Henry has been doing this faces that, well first off I have no idea where he learned them from, propably his father - but he scuzzes everyone off. This picture doesn't express his best scuzz yet, I've seen far, far worse. We had a bbq with some of Adam's co-workers.... a.k.a - Air Force dental folk. The girls apartment was close to the Pentagon in Arlington, it had an awesome view! And of course Henry was the entertainment for the evening, he wanted to eat some leaves on the ground and crawl around in circles. Seriously, we wondered if he sneaked someones drink that was there. He was literally crawling in tiny circles for a few minutes.

Henry has three teeth on the bottom and we can see one tooth that is about to pop out on the top any day now. (Notice the amount of drool on his shirt)

Catching up!
Oh my, it's been awhile. We barely got interweb access, so I'm back. Haven't taken as many pictures over the summer as I wanted to, but I'll be better.
We are in Alexandria Virginia! Adam is stationed at Bolling Air Force Base and is hating the traffic here. It's nuts. Absolutely nuts. Adam's learning a lot and adjusting to Military life, I am adjusting to living in a new area and not working....Henry keeps me really busy, but I actually do miss Cleveland and my job as weird is that may sound. Even though I complained about it a million times. Henry is getting so big, he turns 1 in a few months - where did that come from?!
He's started crawling and he's starting to pull himself up. He's a little whobbly, but he's getting there. We just adore him and treasure all the time that we have with him.

We went to a Redskins game - I've decided that the Redskins will be the NFL team I cheer for. So whoot the skins!

I made Henry an owl hat, he hated having it on and first, we just distracted him and then he forgot that he had it on.

Over Memorial day weekend we went to Zions National park and hiked Angels Landing. All I can say is wow. It was an awesome hike. I was freaked out when we got to the top of the hike....I'm a little scared of heights.... there's been a handful of people that have died on this hike. When we first read about it and found out that - I was really nervous the whole time.

Glad we did it though.

Well.....we moved! No longer Cleveland residents. After graduation we packed up and left for Virginia. It was really weird leaving Cleveland knowing that we weren't coming back. Suprisingly enough, it was all really sad. I hated Cleveland at first. Adam was better with it than I was....time went by, we made some wonderful friends and learned to really appreciate it. Now it's starting all over again in a new place.

Adam graduated Dental school today!!! So proud of him and all of his hard work and so glad that this day has finally come. After graduation, Adam was commissioned as a Captain in the Air Force. So, it's official - Captain, Dr. Adam R. Hurst. ......Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it.

Adam passed his licensuring WREB exam!!! So proud of him! We were sitting with Henry on the couch and suddenly he got a text from one of his friends...I didn't think anything of it, but Adam quickly went to the computer. I could tell that he was really nervous and anxious, but I didn't realize why he was acting that way. He grabbed my hand and said..." This is it".......
PASSED!!!! Hooray!!! His heart was beating so fast, I could see the vein in his neck pulsating.
Next step -Graduation.
Next month I can start calling Adam -
Dr. Captain Adam R. Hurst, or maybe Captain, Dr. Adam R. Hurst....I don't know which one is right. He's just cool.

Henry's 4 months! It's crazy insane how fast time is going. Henry is the sweetest little guy, he's so much fun. I've really treasured every moment since he's been in our lives. He's starting to roll over a little, he's also starting to grasp toys....mostly he just stares at them and then the toys make there way into his mouth. We've been so blessed to have him.

We had the chance to bless Henry in Utah with both of our families there. It was so great to have all our families meet Henry finally. They all think he's the cutest thing ever....which he is.

I love our families and we're so happy to see them.

Henry's Blessing was so beautiful. I'm so proud of Adam and grateful to have such a wonderful husband and father to Henry. I'm so very blessed. Henry is such a joy to us and we're both so happy to have him in our lives.

Well, it's official - we seriously have the cutest kid in the world!! Henry just gets cuter and cuter every time I see him. My favorite is when he's been asleep for a while and he wakes up mad because I'm not holding him, but then when he sees me, he gets a little grin on his face. Love that.

Dominican Republic

Adam had the chance to go on another humanitarian trip to the Dominican Republic.
He had a blast there. He spent 5 days doing dental work for under-privileged people and then got to finish up the week on the beautiful beach for a few days. Jerk.

These guys look tough in this picture, when really they are scared to death. If you can see the spider in one of the pans, it's about the size of your hand......that one spider reduced men to girls and made them sleep 3 to a bed.

Adam's parents came to visit us and meet Henry for the first time, it was so great to have them here. Anita was great, she got up during the night with Henry to give me a break. Love her!

Henry's hair is falling out in the front! His little head is growing....but the good thing is that it's starting to grow back. It seemed like it fell out over night. He looks like he has a mullet now. He's still so adorable.
He's 6 weeks old! And I have no idea where those 6 weeks went. I was dreading January, it always seems to be the worst month to get through, but it has seriously flown by - Hooray!!! Adam has 3 1/2 months left before he graduates! It's so exciting I can't stand it.

4 weeks ago today, we embarked on an adventure known as parenthood. I can't believe that it's been a month since we checked into the hospital to have Henry. It's been so wonderful having him in our lives. We absolutely adore this little guy. We have a few nicknames for him....Adam came up wither "nenners." I for some reason have started calling him "nummers." Then there is "Mr. Hanky the Christmas pooh."
The past few nights we've been blessed to have him somewhat on a sleeping schedule. We've been able to put him down to sleep around 9:00pm and he's awaken every 3 - 3 1/2 hours to feed. It's been marvelous to have had three hours in a row of sleep! I hope he continues on this schedule for awhile.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Our first Christmas with Henry was so great. He is so fun! We drove to Adam's sisters house in Virginia for Christmas. We were sad that we weren't able to go to Utah for the holidays, but being with Kim's family made it a lot less blue.
Adam's mom surprised me with some Tractor toys for Henry and a cute tractor/truck blanket. She made my day. My dad would have loved getting him toys like that. Thank you Anita!

Since Adam will be stationed in DC, we wanted to see what the Bolling Air Force Base looked like so we could get an idea of where we'd be living for the next year. We are very excited about it. We're trying to figure out if we should live on base or live somewhere close by. The commute for Adam is going to be a huge pain if we chose to live off base.

Say Hello to Henry Scoffield Hurst

We are so thrilled to have him in our family. He is so sweet! We are very proud parents.

We went to the hospital on Thursday night, around midnight. I chose to be induced, so the doctor had me come in the night before he was on call. They got me all checked in and asked me all sorts of questions. I didn't get hooked up to the IV until 2:00am. They put me on some medicine that started the dilating process, it wasn't pitocin, something different. They told me that they'd watch me and see how I was doing, I was then dilated to about a three. They let us sleep until 7:30am, which the doctor wanted them to originally get me started on pitocin at 5:30am. When he came to check on me, we could tell that he was really bugged at the resident doctor that checked me in. He had a plan, but they didn't go along with it. Once they started me on Pitocin, I was at a 4. that was around 8:00am Then the doctor came in and asked me if I was okay with them breaking my water. At 9:30am he broke my water and then the real fun began. Holy crap with the pain!!! He told me that I could get the epidural at any time, but when he left to go check on some other lady, the nurse wouldn't go get the Epidural team, she gave me some reason having to do with the catheter....I wasn't paying attention to the reason, I was just mad at her. Finally Adam went and put the smack down and the nurse got the epidural team together. It took a while for the pain to wear off, but I was now feeling a ton of pressure down there, like a bowling ball was there and I was trying to hold it up. I kept asking the nurses if that was normal, they said that it was and it was just a part of the process. But, I could tell something wasn't right...the doctor came in and wanted to check me, all the sudden he said to the nurse that I was dilated to a 10 and that his head was right there. Next thing I knew they were getting me ready for delivery.....my body must have started to freak out or something, I went into labor too fast. I went from being a 4 to a 10 within 30 minutes. I started feeling really light headed and felt like I was about to pass out. They put me on some oxygen and next thing I knew it, I threw up on my bed twice and they the whole dry heave thing happened. I threw up on Adam's shoe a little. It was embarrassing. After throwing up and being completely out of it, I looked around the room and noticed that there was 8 doctors in the room. The little guys heart rate was dropping and they needed to get him out fast. The doctor was afraid that he was going to have to do a c-section right there. It was all really scary. Adam was really scared. I only had to push about 4 times and it lasted for a couple of minutes.....but he came out! He was so sweet, I started to cry at that point. They got him all cleaned up and gave him to Adam to hold. I cried the second time when I was him with Adam. Adam was so cute with him. It was such an amazing experience.

Last Wednesday, Adam received a phone call from the Air Force informing him that he was accepted in an A.E.G.D. program and that he'll be stationed for one year in Washington D.C.!!! We are really excited and feel so blessed. We were a little disappointed that it wasn't somewhere we wanted to go to in the West, but it was in our top 5 choices. We actually ranked DC as #1 - thinking we could trick the Air Force into giving us Colorado Springs. We originally ranked Colorado Springs as our top choice, but thinking to ourselves, that no one gets their top choice......man, were we dumb on that one. It totally back fired on us. We are really excited though.

39 weeks

38 weeks

Almost there! I have 4 more days to go, if I don't go into labor before then. I am choosing to get induced this Thursday night at midnight...well that's when I go into the hospital anyways.
I am so ready to get this little guy out of me, it's so uncomfortable, I can't seem to find a good position to be able to relax. I guess that's just the thing one has to deal with....
I'm feeling really great for the most part, just really nervous and scared of the unknown.
We're getting very excited to meet the little guy, still no name decided, but it'll come to us eventually.
My mom and brother are flying in on Friday, I'm really excited to see them too. Wish us luck!

A few weeks ago, Adam had the chance to play in a Dodgeball tournament with some of his 4th year dental buddies. They ended up winning and being the Regional Champs! They're supposed to be getting some pretty sweet T-shirts.... He had a blast playing.

Adam never mentioned their team name, but I found out from another dental wife that their team name was "The Buccinators," which made me laugh out loud because nothing says "intimidating" like a chewing muscle. Ya gotta Love the dental student nerdiness in that.

My friends threw me a baby shower out here in Cleveland, man, I have been really lucky to have had all the great friends and family members to throw me baby showers the past few months. Update on life....

Well, we're coming close to having the little guy enter into our lives. Three weeks today the doctor is going to induce me and wah-la....we're having a human. Adam and I are very excited, but also a little freaked out. Our lives are going to change so much, it's going to be weird for us. I just keep thinking to myself that people do this all the time, they have more than one kid too. We still have no names picked out yet, but it will all work out when we see him.
My mom and my Brother Mark are coming out to help us with "The Boy". I'm super happy that they are coming too. Adam has scheduled to take his Part 2 National Boards right before Christmas, so he's been studying for that. Can't wait for him to be done with it, Boards are so stressful. It will be great having my mom here while Adam's off studying at the Library.

We find out sometime in December where Adam will be stationed for his AEGD program with the Air Force. We are getting really excited and yet, really nervous to find out where that will be. We're just hoping for somewhere that we'll both enjoy. I miss living in the west!

This is a couple weeks overdue..... for Halloween (well the day before Halloween) we took a drive out to Patterson's Fruit Farm and hitched a ride on a tractor. They have the best fried apple crisps there, we went up to get some and we realized that we didn't have any cash on us, that was one of the highlights for even going. Ah shucks, we ended up with apple pie instead. I'm really going to miss Ohio in the Fall.

Work Baby Shower

My work was so nice, they threw me a baby shower - a Halloween themed shower. It was so fun! You're probably wondering what on earth is coming out of Hollie's stomach..... well, if you've ever seen a skit from SNL , "Lasercats" - then you'll know exactly what my costume was.
It was an episode with Sigourney Weaver, they did an Alien and Avatar themed skit. You'll just have to youtube it to see what I mean. It's hilarious. It was Adam's idea to use that costume. It is a little disturbing if you haven't seen the skit.

Jared and Chelsea visit

Adam's brother Jared and his wife-to-be Chelsea came to visit us this past weekend. It was so fun to hang out with them and get to know Chelsea better. She is so great! We went to Chicago over the weekend for the Redskins and Bears game; Jared is a huge fan of the Washington Redskin. It was a blast. Adam and I weren't planning on getting tickets, but we were able to find some the very last minute. I love football!
We took Chelsea and Jared to Kirtland and enjoyed being outside, it was such a perfect time for them to come out, all the leaves were at their peek. I am going to miss Ohio's falls.
*Note to self - lose weight in face. My face has really started to bloat up! I hate that......so bad.

N.Y.C

I went to NYC with some friends that I've had the whole time living in Cleveland, all are dental students wives that we've become good friends with. We always wanted to do a girls trip and we figured it was now or never, since it's our last year and three of us our pregnant; we wouldn't have the chance to do it again. It was a lot of fun, however, I'm definitely not a city girl. The busy life of cities makes me have anxiety, people are always in a hurry to get somewhere. I have to say, doing all the touristy things while being pregnant is no fun....my feet were killing me by the end of the day.

It's official.... I am now a Certified Fitness Trainer! I am thrilled that I finally took the exam and was able to pass. I guess it's not really official until I train someone. But before I train anybody - the real test is to be able to train myself. Once this kid is out of me, you better look out!

Feeling very homesick.... I miss the way things used to be, I miss the farm and the dust. I miss the smell of onions and disel fuel. I miss watching my dad irrigate the fields at dusk; He'd hold the shovel on his shoulder as he walked through each row. I miss harvesting onions and getting so dirty in the onion trucks that we'd be covered in rotten onions and when we'd blow our noises it was just brown snot that was coming out.. I miss taking trips to Besies with my dad. I miss waking up in the morning to loud trucks and machinery, to the noise of hammering onion crates. I really had the best childhood. The farm was my playground. Us kids would stay out into all hours of the day, my mom would never worry about us, we were just playing; making forts, and playing in the irrigation ditches. We'd climb up the stack of onion crates and hope they wouldn't tumble on us. We'd play hide and seek and steel the flag till we couldn't see outside. Riding four wheelers and snowmobiles, when it snowed we'd hook up sleds to the back and my dad or brother would pull us. I was never bored as a child. I liked to take walks down to the pond with our dogs and watch them swim for hours. We never worried about them running off and if they did, they'd run back to their dog houses. I never liked dogs, they always killed our cats. So when my brother decided to get one, I was devastated. That was in 6th grade. I'm not so sure how I feel about them still. ( That was random, I know)
I miss coming home from school and my mom would be canning peaches or chili sauce.
I miss my moms Chili and scones. I miss being home for Halloween........
I have too many fond memories to chose from. It's hard being away from home. You get used it, I guess, but something about this time of year brings it all back.

On Friday night, I went with some of my friends from work and we played Bingo. It was so much fun! My friends were telling me about how crazy intense BINGO can get.... little grandpas and grandmas sitting in a row with all their bingo cards, they have little toys lined up across their desk for good luck charms. When the announcer would yell out a certain number, some of the people would make noises indicating that it was their lucky number. It was hilarious! I decided to have 10 be my lucky number and yell out "Whoop, Whoop!" They only called out my number twice, but still - it was great.

Or maybe I feel a lot bigger than it looks :) Things are going great, he thinks my uterus is a punching/kickboxing bag though. I had some free time at work and was web surfing, I had some random thought come to mind about our wedding photographer and wanted to checkup on their website....I was watching their demo that they have displayed on the main page and I got through all the way to the last picture and I thought to myself, that person looks really familiar, wait a tic - IT'S ME!!! I had no idea that they used one of my pictures! I guess you could say that it kind a made my day :) It's definitely not my most favorite picture...but the photographer must have liked it.
I'm grinning like an idiot and I remember exactly when that picture was taken, it was my bridals and Adam was gone to Peru with his dad. I mentioned that Adam was gone to the photographer when we first started the session. While shooting that picture, he told me to look over and imagine that Adam was standing there. Anyways long story short. I feel famous..... or something like that.

We're soooo excited for Adam's brother Jared! He proposed over the weekend to his beautiful girlfriend Chelsea. Adam's nieces and his sister Amy was in on the whole plan. Jared made this excuse that he needed to go over to their house and give something to Amy's husband. When they got there, a table and candles were set up in the backyard and all of the girls were little props in his game. *Evil grin* The girls made a little dessert menu and let them chose between two different desserts. Too cute! Congrats Jared and Chelsea!!!

We didn't do too much over the Labor Day weekend, mostly just relaxed and enjoyed being with each other. Monday we drove to the Amish country to look for a Rocker/Glider chair for the baby room. We are having one made for us by some Amish folk, we got to choose the upholstery, which wood and with which stain we wanted....it's going to be fantastic. We also bought a pack n' play for the little man, we figured getting a pack n' play would benefit us more than just getting a crib. We're going to moving around a lot in the future. My friend from work has given us a car seat with the stroller and the bases. I think we're pretty much all set now, it's just getting the little things from here on out. I'm 26 weeks along, I can't believe how fast it's going, I'll be in my third trimester in a few weeks! It's all down here from now on. CRAZY!! We still can't figure out a name, and it's driving us nuts.

This picture was taken at 23 weeks - but I'm 24 weeks now, so not even a difference from 23 wks.

This past weekend sucked. I woke up on Saturday morning, I'm not exactly sure what time it was, somewhere between 5:ooam and 6:ooam - I woke up to this excruciating pain on my lower right side of my stomach. I got up out of bed and tried to walk and I seriously couldn't, I have never felt that kind of pain before. It felt like a knife or some sharp object that had stabbed me and was left there, every few seconds the spasms of pain would put me into a fetal position. I eventually woke Adam up after trying to go back to sleep, hoping that it would pass. The pain didn't stop, but I wanted to give it a while before we called the doctors office. I knew that they weren't open on Saturdays. I took some tylenol hoping that would ease the pain, about and hour later, it was still killing me. Adam made me call the doctors office, we were both worried that something bad had happened to our little guy. So I called the doctors office and it put me through to the On Call doctor. I explained to her what I was feeling and she told me to come straight to the Hospital; Labor and Delivery floor. I forgot that emergency rooms like that are crappy on being quick about things. We got there about 10:30am and didn't end up leaving until 3:00pm and all they did was run a few tests.
They were concerned that it might be either appendicitis, bladder infection, Urinary tract infection, or maybe something wrong with the kidneys. Ugh. They finally let us go and said that they'd call my doctor on the results of the test, I have a check up in the next couple of days anyways. So Saturday and Sunday roll on by and I'm still having awful pain in my lower abdominal area. I woke up on Monday morning with the sharp pains and decided that it would be best if I'd try and see my doctor today rather than tomorrow. Maybe he could do an ultra sound and see if there's anything to see. Because they didn't do that while we were in the hospital - which I thought was weird. You think that they would check to see if the baby was okay with an ultra sound. Anyways - So I got into to see my doctor this morning and he does an ultra sound on me and says that things looks great with the little guy. What the pain that I'm most likely feeling is Round Ligament pain. I was relived that it wasn't horrible news like appendicitis or something like that, but I was still mad that that was the cause of all my troubles! Seriously ligament pain, what's up with that?! I've never felt anything like that before, I seriously thought something inside had exploded, like my appendix or something. I was reading online to check the symptoms I had, there was this one website that said something about how your uterus could detach - it was freaking me out. I'm just so glad to know that our little guy is okay and that I'll be okay. Now I can move on and stress about something else.

We had the chance to spend some time in Utah, Adam had a couple weeks off of school, so we were able to go on a little vacation. I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked, I mostly just was lazy about it, but I posted a few here and there of the weeks activities....

Adam's sister Amy had a little boy a few months ago, so we got to be there for his blessing. We're so excited that our little man will have a cousin so close to him.
We went out to dinner at one of my most favorite restaurants in Utah - Maddox. I love that place!

I was able to have a couple baby showers while in town, our families are so generous! It's finally starting to hit that we're having a baby, it's taken me a while :) The little man is really started to poke out, he's starting to kick like crazy, the first time I really noticed it was on the plane ride to Utah. I was leaning over to sleep on the pull out tray, and all of the sudden, P.O.W!!! And he won't stop. Adam was taking a little nap on my tummy, and he's head was right by my belly, the little guy kicked, and Adam heard it - it was so funny! Right when I felt it, Adam's eyes lit up and he asked me if it just kicked....it was awesome.

It was so great to see our families, it's always so hard saying goodbye to them, sometimes I hate going knowing that I have to say goodbye.

I have just a little bulge - this was at 19 weeks.
I'm excited to have the little guy get bigger, to feel him start kicking and see him move across my stomach.

At 20 weeks, I'm feeling really good, although my left hip socket aches all day, I don't know what that's about. It hurts! I can't figure out why it's just the left side either.
It started hurting really bad about a week ago. I'm hoping that pain will go away soon. Other than that, I've been very lucky, I've never thrown up once, come close a couple of times, but things have been really good. I'm so glad, because working and feeling sick doesn't mix.
I plan to work up until I'm about to explode if everything goes good.

Adam and I are having the hardest time coming up with names that we like. I had a girl name all picked out, but boy names, that's a different story. We went for a Sunday night stroll like we usually do on Sundays, and all we did was talk about names....."What about _, or what about _?" We did that for a full hour, it got to the point where we said all the names that we could possibly think about and then we we're naming things that we saw, like I spy - "What about tree? or apple? or bunny!" then we were noticing street names.........this is hard.

We just found out yesterday that it's a Boy! I was always hoping that it would be a girl for our first, but everything was telling me that it was a boy.
It's all so surreal, it hasn't hit me yet. I'm not sure when it will, maybe after the little guy is born... or maybe not even then. Adam is so excited, he'll have a little buddy. He hasn't been to the last few ultra sound appointment because he's had patients, so he was really happy to be able to come to this ultra sound. It was fun to see Adam's face react to seeing the little critter. He had a huge smile on his face the whole time.
I hope our little guy looks more like Adam than me, Adam was the cutest little baby ever, he still is pretty dang cute! :)

We went to D.C. for the 4th and got to spend time with Adam's sister.
The Fireworks were amazing, probably the best I've ever seen. Since moving to Cleveland and getting to experience and Cleveland Indians firework show, I thought nothing could top that, but I was wrong. Adam bought me a new camera for my B-day, but we forgot it in the car! I was able to get a couple pictures online that someone posted. We sat along the bank of the Potomac river in Washington DC and watched the fireworks, we had a great view....it was awesome.

My dad passed away one year ago tomorrow. This past week most of my thoughts have been about him and all the events that took place leading up to that time. It's seems so crazy that it's been a year, all the things that have changed and that we've had to cope with.

Recent happenings.....

Not too much really going on the past month for us, just doing the same old things - Adam going to school and me working. Adam does have a two week break coming up in the next month, we're really looking forward to that, we get to go to Utah to visit our families. Honestly, if it wasn't for the trips home to Utah every 6 months or so, I think my Cleveland experience would be a lot worse. Those trips home give me something to look forward too, they keep me going.

We are trying to find a good camera to buy so we can track the exciting times in pregnancy, but it's hard committing to buying one. Our last good one broke, Adam took it to Guatemala with him, and that was the last of it.... why does technology have to break? I thought technology was supposed to be something extra-great.
As soon as we get a camera, I will start to post some pictures of the growing belly. It's not much though, mostly just a fat buldge. I've had to eat everything in sight it seems, I feel like a vacuum when it comes to eating, there's one good thing, I haven't really been craving sweets, just mostly meats and carbs. But the bad thing is I have no desire whatsoever to exercise. I just feel myself turning into a whale. Every woman that I've had the chance to talk to about their pregnancy has commented on the transition stage and how bad they have hated it.....you're not quite ready to start buying maternity clothes, but your clothes you are wearing now are getting to tight and uncomfortable. UUUGGHH! I just want to wear pj bottoms all the time. I don't think my boss at work would let that fly by though.........or maybe she would.

We went to Chicago for Memorial Day Weekend, the city is so big, it just keeps going and going..... We got lost a couple of times trying to figure out where the subway stations were. I don't think I want to ever live in a big city - they scare me too much and I like the space to breath clean air - not breathing in smoke and sewer smells. I'm more of a farm girl myself. :)
We walked around so much, we were pretty tired by the end of the day - well, at least I was. Adam is a energizer bunny.
We had the chance to go to a Cubs game, that was the highlight of our trip out here, it was fun to see the famous Wrigley Field and see the statue of Harry Carry. ~ Cool story, well it's not cool at first, but it gets better..... We had to take the subway to a certain stop and then get off and take a bus to the Wrigley Field. After we got of the bus and went into the Stadium, Adam noticed that his phone wasn't in his pocket, he left it on the bus!!! So he had to use my phone to call and put a hold on his account. He was so upset the whole game, he had all of his contacts on that phone. By the end of the game we forgot about it, we wanted to walk around the stadium to get a picture of the Harry Carry statue. We were walking along all these buses that were waiting....Luckily - me being as cool as I am, noticed our same bus driver that dropped us off - what are the odds that he would be standing right in front as we walked by. I stopped all the sudden and told Adam - "Hey, it's our bus driver!" I remember what he looked like because I'm awesome and he had really cool dreadlocks.
So Adam went up to him and asked him if someone had by chance turned in a cell phone, he left his on this bus....without Adam finishing the question, the guy went into a little box and pulled out Adam's cell phone! Adam was so relieved.

Today is our 3 year anniversary! I can't believe it's already been 3, it has gone by way fast. Practically our whole married life has been in Ohio away from our families and friends back home, far away from anything else we've ever known. So many new things we've experienced together, it's been a blast.

Adam is seriously the best thing that has ever happened to me, my life has been complete bliss ever since he came into the picture. Take that for being too cheesy! I just love him!
The things I love most about Adam:
~ He makes me laugh non-stop
~ He's always so considerate of my feelings, always so
sweet to me
~ His Testimony and knowledge of the Gospel is such an
example to me, I love that he is such a good person - inside
and out.
~ He is so smart! I love how motivated he is with school and
everything that he does, he hates being lazy and he always
pushes me to be the best I can be.
~ He loves his family more than anything, and his relationship with them is so fun to watch
~ He's such a little boy sometimes it's so sweet - he's all about the traditions and I love that
What I mean by that - example: His families traditions mean the world to him, especially
around Christmas.
~ He always wants to have fun, no matter what the circumstances are, he's always trying to
stay positive.
~ I love how adventurous he is, he likes to try new things and always wants to make it
worthwhile.
~ He will make the best daddy! The way he interacts with his own nieces and nephews is
priceless.
~ I love his laugh - it's very ware when I see him laugh so hard that he cries, but his laugh
makes me laugh
~ I love that I can be myself around him, which is usually a big dork, but it's nice that he still
seems like he likes me :)

Adam will be 27 tomorrow! His Birthday always falls on finals week, so we will celebrate it on the weekend. I'm going to make one of his favorite cakes and then maybe we'll go out to dinner on Friday night.

Adam only has a little over a month before he'll be a 4th year Dental Student. It's so crazy weird to think back on the years that we've been in Cleveland, it's gone by so quickly. Adam will graduate next year! Wow next year, we can finally say that, it's a great feeling. I'm so proud of Adam and all that he's done for us. He's such an amazing person, I just love him!

Adam is a 2nd Lt. in the United States Air Force.
The Air Force is paying for all of Adam's schooling and once he graduates he has to give 4 years back of service in the Air Force; So he'll be a Dentist for the Air Force. Once he graduates he'll have to go to Officer Training for 5 weeks and then we'll be stationed at an Air Force base, not exactly sure if we'll be stationed at one base for the whole 4 years. Adam is also wanting to do an AEGD (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) program through the Air Force. It's either a 1 year or 2 year program deciding on which one you'd like to do. Adam will be applying for positions this summer, we'll find out in the fall where he'll be going. There's only a small number of bases that have the program:

My top picks are Colorado, California, Nevada, Washington D.C. or even Virginia. Adam's sister lives in Virginia so it would be nice to live somewhere closer to family.
Exciting times are ahead for the both of us, Adam will be going through a whole lot of studying and preparing for board exams soon, he will be super stressed and overwhelmed....I feel anxious for him already.
When Adam finishes the AEGD program, that's when we will be stationed, pretty much anywhere. It could be overseas (which would be awesome, who has the chance to live overseas and be paid for it) We're hoping for Italy! If not overseas, I want Hawaii.

Puerto Rico!!!
We went from dreary old Cleveland to this........

Adam and I decided to go on a trip. We never really had a real honeymoon, or gone anywhere on a "real vacation" (no offense to our families that we vacation to Utah or Virginia)
We just wanted to experience somewhere warm....
and not Cleveland.
Puerto Rico was absolutely amazing, the weather was hot and the water was like taking a bath. We for sure wanted to stay there a lot longer than a few days. We went snorkeling, and deep sea fishing, we also went to a Bio-luminescent Bay, which was by far one of my favorite things that we did while there. You take a kayak to the middle of this bay just as the sun is setting and you watch as the water starts to sparkle a little like diamonds. The water is pitch black, you take your hands and run your fingers in the water and it turns bright neon blue! It is so cool! Adam jumped in and every stroke that he made I could see the neon. It was so rad.
It was such a great trip.

Okay - so I cut my hair. Even though I miss having long hair, I really like the haircut. Plus it's soooooo much healthier and I just needed a change. Adam's never seen with me short hair, he actually wanted me to go shorter, but I don't think I could bring myself to go any shorter than I already have. We'll see though.
I actually had my hair cut about a month ago....I usually pull it up in a ponytail, hoping that no one would notice, cuz I knew I would get crap about cutting it, "Oh Hollie, you cut your hair!?" "It was (underline was) so beautiful!"
I love having my hair long.... but every once in a while you need a change and you need to cut all the dead ends off. So everybody that doesn't like my haircut can go eat rocks. I had an someone at my work ask me if I cut it (duh).... they told me that they missed my long hair already. I thought that was really rude. I really shouldn't let little comments like that annoy me, especially when I didn't cut my hair to get their attention - I just needed a change blasted! Anyways! That's enough for me venting....sorry!
January has come and gone and it was brutal, it was seriously the longest month ever. I have Joy in knowing that Adam and I have only 1 more January to endure through. It's an exciting thought!
Adam and I have great news! We are going to Puerto Rico for his Spring Break. I am beyond thrilled....Of course we'll post pictures!

Christmas 2009!!!

We spent Christmas and New Years in Utah, we were so happy that we were able to go again, it was so great to see all of our families. Both Adam and I had the chance to see some of our high school friends and catch up with them. It's so crazy to see all of your friends with kids or soon to have kids....we're all grown up and have adult lives. I still imagine myself being 17 and having no real responsibilities, it's scary how time flies by and people get older.
We had the chance to go skiing and enjoy the mountains, I miss them so much.
I forgot the camera in the car so we didn't get any shots of us going down the mountain. It was a blast though.

It was really weird not having my dad around for the Holidays, it was really sad and really depressing, especially on Christmas morning. Adam and I spent the night at my moms and when I awoke, I honestly thought that he would walk around the corner.
It was a great Christmas and I hope that times flies by so we can go back in the summer.

3 years ago...(almost) on December 23, 2006

I was just reminicing today, and I was remembering when Adam proposed to me. It was on Saturday, December 23, 2006. He had to work that morning at good ol' First National Bank, and I had the whole day off. We were planning on hanging out that night, but I wasn't sure what the plans were. He played it off all Mr. cool and such, he called me after he got off work and said that he had some stuff to do - like go to the gym, goof off; stuff like that. He told me that he'd come pick me up @ 6:00pm to go out to dinner. He wanted to go to the SkyBox Grille, at the Gateway Mall, in Salt Lake City (to watch the Jazz game)- We went there on our very first date and have been there a couple more times after that. I thought it was weird that he would drive all the way to Layton to pick me up, when Salt Lake City was in the other direction. Usually he would have had me just drive to him,(which is in Centerville) but I had no idea that he had all sorts of things planned for me.
He came and picked me up, I totally thought that it was like anyother date night - I was for sure hoping that this would be the night, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. We went and had dinner and watched the Jazz game, I got coconut shrimp and he got one of their famous hamburgers. We didn't have any set plans for after dinner, so Adam "suggested" going over to Trolley Square and sitting in their dollar massage chairs. By this point I should have realized that Adam was reenacting our very first date, but I still had no clue that he had something up his sleeves. After the massage chairs, he thought it would be fun to walk around Temple Square and see the lights, so we parked the car and walked around Temple Square for awhile. For a moment, I thought he might actually just pop the question here, but that's not Adam's style, he wouldn't have done it in the public eye. I was a little disappointed when it didn't happen - he was literally killing me with the suspense! You see.... I knew he had the ring - but he didn't know that I knew that he had it. So for a while there, I really thought any night could have been the night. How I knew he had the ring - he left the reciept in his car, in the glove box one night while we were together, he asked me to get a napkin out of the glove box for him.....I totally saw it in there - it was folded up - but the top corner had the companies logo on it!
After walking around Temple Square, we were again - trying to come with things to do. If you've never been to the Grand America Hotel - I suggest you do, just to walk around in their lobby area; for sure use their bathrooms, they are the most majestic bathrooms I've ever seen in my whole life. I wish I could live there. So that's what we did, we also did this on our first date, we took a "Tour" of the hotel. We used their majestic bathrooms, walked around their lobby and outside in their garden area, by this time they had all Christmas decorations displayed outside. On our first date we ran into two of Adam's really good friends that were also on dates, so Adam planned it where one of the same friend would be there that night too. The funny thing was, just as we were walking around outside in their garden area, I mentioned to Adam, "Hey remember when we had our first date and we ran into your friend Adam?"
Right as I said that, his friend Adam pops out of no where! What are the odds?.....I still wasn't getting it - I had no clue what he was up to! Across the street from The Grand America is the Little America. They have a very comfy place where you can sit in front of the fireplace and talk.
That's exactly what we did on our first date, we ended up staying there until 3:oo am. We just talked and talked - I fell in Love with Adam that very first night. We just clicked.
After talking to his friend Adam for a little bit, we walked over to our favorite place, we'd come here when we didn't have anything else to do sometimes.
They have two fireplaces, the more comfy and romantic one is upstairs....First of all I should probably point this out - I told Adam that I wanted a Apothecary for Christmas. If you don't know what that is, it's a glass vase with a lid for putting decorative things in, for display purposes. As we were walking up to the fireplace, I noticed that they had an apothecary on the coffee table, I even mentioned that to Adam. "Hey, they've got what I want!" As we got closer to it, I saw a little black ring box on top of these white and blue crystal rocks. They were glowing, some how he manages to get them to look lit up. Finally it hit me! My exact words to Adam were, "Nuh-ah.....Are you serious!?!" I was shocked! It finally hit me that all the things and places that we went to, were our first date, he had to help me realize that a little, but he's a clever little Adam. It was exciting! I opened the lid to the apothecary and grabbed the little black box inside. I was kneeling on the floor by it, and Adam came and hugged me from behind and whispered in my ear - "Will you Marry me?" Of course I said yes - Duh! It's Adam - who wouldn't?! He had some help setting all the plans up, like who brought the apothecary to the hotel at the right moment and all that jazz. We drove to his parents house, he had something else he wanted to give me and his parents were waiting up for us. They took pictures and congradulated us - Adam bought be a dozens roses and brought them to me. It was a great night.

We spent Thanksgiving in Virginia with Adam's sister and their family. We've been so blessed to have family somewhat close by to us; it's not that far of a drive from here - but this time we decided to fly there. I don't know what it is with flying around the Holidays, but why does it suck so bad.
Especially flying Southwest. Adam and I have made an end to flying Southwest around the Holidays - they always, and I mean always, screw things up somehow.
Anyways.....Thanksgiving weekend was very relaxing and full of over-eating. We made it to the National History Museum and got to see all sorts of great stuff. We took pictures of Dorothy's(Judy Garland's) Ruby red slippers that she wore on set of the movie. We got to see the original Kermet the Frog; Abe Lincoln's top hat; and C-3PO. I love going to D.C. - there's always so much to do.

Gals Vaca....

My mom and aunt Marie were able to come visit us for the weekend, it went by way too fast. We tried to keep them busy with all the sites that we could cram in before they had to leave; We visited all the church sites, plus Niagara Falls. Good times to be had.

I'm so excited that I wanted to post early and then post some pictures after wards....
My mom and my aunt are coming out to visit us next weekend! I'm so thrilled to finally get my mom out here. It's been more than a two year process of trying to have her come visit us.
I can barely wait - I hope this next week flies by and then time slows when she's here.
They fly in Thursday and stay till Monday morning. We have the whole weekend planned with visiting all the Church sites, my mom is a huge church history buff - she gets excited about genealogy and history. It will be so great for her to be away and be able to relax and enjoy herself; She deserves it.
It's going to be hard when they leave. Oh hum...

Akron Ohio 1/2 Marathon

I had the chance to run a 1/2 Marathon last Saturday with one of our great friend, Justin.... it rocked! I was really proud of myself, I didn't train nearly as much as I did with the last one and I took 12 minutes off my time. What was that all about! I ran over the finish line @ 1:56:42 - but my chip time said 1:54:16
My goal was to run it under two hours.....I'm so happy that I did. Justin did amazing too! This was his first one and he got 1:49:-something..... His goal was to make it under 2 hours too. I'm so glad that I ran it with him, he was my motivation to try and run faster.
There was 11,000 people that signed up to run the Marathon, 1/2 marathon and relay. It was so awesome being in that atmosphere - everyone was so excited to be there.
I seriously hit the wall about mile 11 - it started to get more up hill, I really wanted to shoot the person that decided to put hills there - or should I say the race course. What were they trying to do - kill every body off. Anywho - that's one more to scratch on my belt.
I've love to say that I could do a full marathon, but the more I do 1/2 marathons - just don't know how someone could run 13 more miles after that. Golly Gee.
The first place Marathon runner got 2:27:21 - I just don't get it - they ran 26 miles in the amount of time that 1 person did 13 miles........Oh to have that ability.
